A breast implant is a surgical procedure that gives patients a fuller, firmer look. They are made from silicone gel or saline. They are placed in the chest through an incision. The length of the incision depends on the type of implant patient chooses and their body's contours. The breast implant surgery will also involve stitches and skin adhesive or surgical tape to protect the area.

Asia Pacific Breast Implants Market is estimated to account for US$ 329.5 Mn in terms of value by the end of 2027.

There are several types of implants available, and different implants have different strengths. Several implants may be better than others in terms of their ability to mimic natural tissue. For instance, saline-filled implants tend to be firmer than silicone implants and don't require routine MRI screenings. They also leak less and don't require an ongoing cycle of silicone oil.

Surgical procedures involving breast implants require a consultation with a plastic surgeon. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will explain the various types of implants available. There are round and teardrop-shaped implants, as well as saline or silicone implants. The recovery time after breast implant surgery is usually one to two weeks, however, it can be longer. Some women can resume work after two weeks, and others may need several weeks to recover completely. The surgeon may prescribe pain medication, if needed, so patients should follow their doctor's instructions carefully.

Although saline implants are not the only type of breast implant available, the FDA has found a link between silicone implants and anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). The disease is uncommon and occurs in about one out of every 30,000 women. Fortunately, the risks are low compared to other types of plastic surgery.

Breast implants are a safe and successful procedure. There is a minimal risk of complications and side effects, however, complications can occur. The main risks are infection, blood clots, and the wound healing process. However, if a patient chooses a highly experienced plastic surgeon, breast implants are a safe, long-term option for breast augmentation. In August 2020, Sientra, Inc. received approval from Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Agency of Japan for marketing the whole OPUS line of breast implants in the country.
