Colostomy bag is a small device that helps collect fecal matter from the digestive tract. These bags are the common choice for people with digestive problems. They can be either reusable or single use. A colostomy may be needed if people cannot pass stools through their anus. Colostomy bags are designed to collect fecal matter directly from the stoma, or protruding part of the colon. The bag can be either one-piece or two-piece. Generally, a two-piece colostomy bag has a separate base plate that connects to the stoma. With a one-piece colostomy bag, the bag attaches to the stoma using adhesive. One-piece ostomy bags include a skin barrier and a pouch while two-piece ostomy bags keep the skin barrier and pouch separate. One can quickly and easily change or drain the pouch, making it the perfect pouch for ostomates on the go.

Colostomy does not bring significant lifestyle changes as most people are allowed to follow the same diet as earlier and perform their daily routine after surgery. Moreover, doctors provide a wide range of accessories, such as stoma paste, skin protective wipes, deodorizers, girdles, and belts, to avoid infections around bag due to dislocation of colostomy bag, sweating, and spillage of stool.
